The Philippine Chinese Charitable Association, Inc. (PCCAI) and Filipino Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, Inc. (FCGCCI), led by the president/chairman emeritus Dr. James Dy, recently spearheaded the recent Manila Police District (MPD) Annual Recognition Night at Golden Fortune Seafood Restaurant in Manila. Manila Mayor Joseph Estrada graced the event.
“It has been a proud tradition for us to give recognition to the bravery and heroism of our Manila police officers. We have long established our partnership with all the branches of the armed forces, to be able to care for and provide assistance to our law enforcers who put themselves in the face of danger in the fulfilment of their sworn duty to protect the law and the general public,” Dy said.
Among the awardees this year were PO1 Gerardo Salustiano, Jr. of MPD Station 5, PO1 John RupertAgustin of Station 9, and PO1 Leidriane Legaspi and PO1 BienvenidoDucusin, Jr. of Station 2. The event also recognized PO1 William Cristobal of the Mandaluyong Police, who barred a Chinese national in a viral MRT3 incident Dy added, “Being exposed to danger on a daily basis is a norm in the law enforcement. So whenever I see a police officer proudly wearing his uniform, directing traffic, apprehending criminals, or just doing his normal routine inspection of MRT passengers and their bags, I have a newfound appreciation of your individual heroism.”
