INAUGURATION OF THE CHINESE GENERAL HOSPITAL AND MEDICAL CENTER (CGHMC) COMPREHENSIVE CANCER INSTITUTE

In line with its commitment of being at the forefront of medical care and services, Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center (CGHMC) operated and owned by Philippine Chinese Charitable Association Inc. (PCCAI) has recently launched the CGHMC Cancer Institute last May 10, 2019 under the leadership of Dr. James G. Dy, President and CEO (CGHMC) with the support of all Board of Directors and officers.

There is a strong need for a comprehensive, state-of-the-art, yet affordable cancer care facility.  The management of CGHMC long for a day when people from all walks of life can have easy access to quality, yet, affordable cancer care, offering hope to everyone. It is with this vision that the new Cancer Institute was established.  Chinese General Hospital and Medical Center also sees the opportunity to cater to the growing sophistication of patients in search of comprehensive cancer care not only in the local market but also in the competitive Asia Pacific region.

At the heart of the Cancer Institute is the state of the art Tru Beam Varian Linear Accelerator, presently the most advanced system in the country.  This provides a fully integrated and advance medical linear accelerator for image-guided radiotherapy and radiosurgery, designed to treat target with enhanced speed and accuracy. 

An entire floor of the Cancer Institute is devoted for the chemotherapy unit to provide space and privacy for the patients in need of such treatment.   It likewise provides for conference rooms dedicated for multi disciplinary consult where specialists of various discipline can convene together and meet with the families to discuss the best available treatment option.  The advanced imaging modalities is likewise housed in the same building and the Cancer Institute is completed with dedicated rooms and highly trained staff devoted for the care of cancer patients. 

Under the initiative and supervision of Dr. Samuel Ang, Director of the Cancer Institute and Chairman of the Department of Surgery with the support of Dr. Jason Letran, Assistant Director of Cancer Institute and Chairman of the Institute  of Urology together with the officers of the Cancer Institute.  All this make the CGHMC Cancer Institute a truly comprehensive one stop cancer treatment facility that is unheard of in the Philippines and globally competitive in terms of physical structure, facility, physicians, personnel and value for money service.
