“The Award Given to Dedicated Teachers Who Change Students’ Lives”
Her Royal Highness Prin-cess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn is widely known for her dedication to educational development. Her Royal Highness’s continuous efforts to provide opportunities for disadvantaged children and youth in remote areas, and to improve their occupations and quality of life by means of education, have been made over many years, generating beneﬁts at national and international levels.
On the auspicious occasion of the 60th birthday anniversary of Her Royal Highness Prin-cess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn in 2015, the Teachers’ Council of Thailand, under the Ministry of Education, deems it appropriate to request Her Royal Highness’s permission to establish an international award in honour of her admirable endeavours and also to grant it the name of “Princess Maha Chakri Award”.
1.To honour Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for her outstanding achievements in the ﬁeld of education and in the development of the quality of life, especially for the disadvantaged;
2.To honour highly dedicated teachers whose accomplishments make signiﬁcant contributions to education and human development and who deserve international recognition;
3.To support and promote development of the teaching profession as well as educational enhancement;
4.To strengthen international relations in the ﬁeld of education.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award is given to outstanding teachers from 11 countries in Southeast Asia (ASEAN + Timor Leste), who have made impact to students’ lives. The Award was set up in 2015 in recognition of HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sir-indhron’s contribution and devotion to teachers and education.
The Princess Maha Chakri Award is given once every two years to recognize teachers who change students’ lives, particularly the disadvantaged groups. It aims to promote the excellent practices to inspire and serve as examples for other teachers in Southeast Asia. The unique and most important aspect of the award are activities after receiving the Award which will enable these teachers to expand their practices to improve themselves and help other teachers in the region.
